We saw them last night at The Joyce Theater here in NYC. The dancers were fantastic and we had a chance to chat with our friend Tory, the Artistic Director of the company. If you live here (or are visiting), go see them them this week! Men in tutus, tights and point shoes... can it get any better for the holidays? And did we mention that they have great technique too?

The Royals Pay a Visit!

What a great surprise we had when Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana stopped by the store today to give us a royal wave hello. We were honored by their visit and they even picked up a few post xmas goodies for their royal family and friends back home. Diana bought this tiara to place on top of the other one she was already wearing. The lady loves the bling!

Several years ago I ran across your store. I was in grad school in San Diego and pinching every penny. I stood looking at the rainbow of colorful bags and thought long and hard about whether I should splurge on what, to me, was an extravagance. I finally did it knowing that I'd think about that bag every time I packed my ratty old Nike duffel for a weekend trip. I bought a large red floral oilcloth bag and absolutely love it. I use it as my overnight bag all the time. In fact, I was just packing it for my holiday trip to my brother's house and thought "I need to let those folks know how much I love their stuff." Our Motto (on the sandwich board to the left) will be printed on the back. Many people think its very funny. But the other day, a person passing by the store thought we had made a mistake.

She: Shouldn't it read the other way around?

Richard: Uhh, no... we kind of like the irony.

She: Oh.... Ok.

Babette says "Happy Holidays"

This picture - of my restaurant mannequin Babette - was taken during the 1980s in my living room (which also doubled as my art studio). The East Village was very different back then.









Here is Babette pictured (by me) on my old restaurant menu. She was a fashion icon! We have yet to find a replacement for her at the store.

If you know of any mannequins that are looking for a new home, have them send a photo to us for consideration. The pay is good and there are great benefits like sitting in our store window, opportunities to wear great bags, great exposure to the public and the benefit of an occasional cleaning - with soft paper towels and Windex - guaranteed by one of our staff.
